The Joe Satriani EP

The Joe Satriani EP

Joe Satriani is a self-titled EP by guitarist Joe Satriani, released in 1984 through Rubina Records. Originally self-released in a limited run on vinyl only, the majority of the EP was later reissued on the first disc of Satriani's 1993 studio album, Time Machine, with the exception of "Talk to Me", which was not included due its master tape having been damaged.

It is notable for only using sounds made by an electric guitar, from tapping on the pickups for drums, to detuning the guitar for bass. Recorded while Satriani was a guitar teacher in Berkeley, California, the EP was successful in securing him a recording contract with Relativity Records, through whom he released his first studio album, Not of This Earth, in 1986.

Famous quotes containing the word joe:

I do wish that as long as they are translating the thing, they would go right on ahead, while they’re at it, and translate Fedor Vasilyevich Protosov and Georgei Dmitrievich Abreskov and Ivan Petrovich Alexandrov into Joe and Harry and Fred.
    Dorothy Parker (1893–1967)
