The Executioner (book Series)

The Executioner (aka Mack Bolan) is a paperback series of books, and spin offs (713 as of January 2010 that have sold more than 200 million copies according to Amazon.com) created and initially written by American author Don Pendleton in 1969 who wrote 37 of the original 38 Bolan books (#16 was written by one "Jim Petersen" during a legal dispute between Pendleton and Pinnacle) before he licensed the rights to Gold Eagle in 1980. The series details the ongoing adventures of twelve-year career Army sniper Master Sergeant Mack Bolan, introduced in The Executioner #1: War Against the Mafia.

Following his war on the mafia, in book #39 Mack Bolan began his "new war" on international terrorism around the world. Mack Bolan's pursuit endures to this day, after the successful publication of more than 700 books and another several hundred novels in spinoff series including Able Team, Phoenix Force, Super Bolan, and Stony Man, the last of which brings all the teams together under Bolan's leadership.
