The Kent Regiment
The regiment in Kent County was known as the 24th Kent Regiment, prior to 1901 this regiment had been created and disbanded several times. It was not until 1 January 1901 with the increasing number of troops being sent to Africa to fight in the Boer War that the regiment was created permanently, with its headquarters in Chatham Ontario. They had seven men fight in the Boer War and 1 did not return. Like the Essex Fusiliers the Kent Regiment was also renamed several times. In December 1936, the regiment was re-designated as The Kent Regiment (MG), which meant it was now a machine gun regiment not a light infantry regiment. Eventually it was named The Kent Regiment on 1 April 1941.
