Famous quotes containing the words dangerous, lives and/or altar:

    We are able to find everything in our memory, which is like a dispensary or chemical laboratory in which chance steers our hand sometimes to a soothing drug and sometimes to a dangerous poison.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)

    Teach us to live our lives with purpose and with power
    for visions of a better world and for decision’s hour;
    To choose the way of life, reject the way of death,
    until the radiant force of God fills mind and strength and breath.
    Walter J. Mathams (19th–20th centuries)

    And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
    Bible: Hebrew Exodus 20:25.
