Personal Life
Von Hoene was a Cincinnati native, raised in Madisonville and lived most of his life in Price Hill, both Cincinnati suburbs. His real name and stage was spelled exactly the same but pronounced differently; at home it was Haney, on the air it was Hane. He earned a B.A. in history and a M.A. in theater from the University of Cincinnati. Dick Von Hoene died of a heart attack on February 4, 2004, and was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:
“Samuel Sewall, in a world of wigs,
Flouted opinion in his personal hair;
For foppery he gave not any figs,
But in his right and honor took the air.”
—Anthony Hecht (b. 1923)
“Whatever else American thinkers do, they psychologize, often brilliantly. The trouble is that psychology only takes us so far. The new interest in families has its merits, but it will have done us all a disservice if it turns us away from public issues to private matters. A vision of things that has no room for the inner life is bankrupt, but a psychology without social analysis or politics is both powerless and very lonely.”
—Joseph Featherstone (20th century)
