The Chandler Family - Charlotte "Lottie" Chandler

Charlotte "Lottie" Chandler

Charlotte is the sister of identical twins Stuart and Adam chandler.

Charlotte, called "Lottie" by her brothers, was born and raised in Pigeon hollow, West Virginia. While in her late teens she became romanticly involved with a young local boy named Pete Cooney. Lottie's relationship with Pete Cooney ended when Cooney was drafted into the military and shipped off to Europe. Soon after Cooney's departure, Lottie found that she was pregnant with his child. When the baby was born, she named him Ross. As Lottie's letters to Pete Cooney never reached him and as he did not return to Pigeon Hollow after the war, it was many years until Cooney, then known as Palmer Cortlandt, learned of Charlotte's pregnancy and the birth of his son. Charlotte, weighed down by feelings of rejection and shame, committed suicide a few years after Ross' birth.

Famous quotes containing the words charlotte and/or chandler:

In soliciting donations from his flock, a preacher may promise eternal life in a celestial city whose streets are paved with gold, and that’s none of the law’s business. But if he promises an annual free stay in a luxury hotel on Earth, he’d better have the rooms available.
—Unknown. Charlotte Observer (October 6, 1989)

Would you convey my compliments to the purist who reads your proofs and tell him or her that I write in a sort of broken-down patois which is something like the way a Swiss waiter talks, and that when I split an infinitive, God damn it, I split it so it will stay split, and when I interrupt the velvety smoothness of my more or less literate syntax with a few sudden words of bar- room vernacular, that is done with the eyes wide open and the mind relaxed but attentive.
    —Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
