The Carolina Youth Commission

The Carolina Youth Commission

The Carolina Youth Commission (CYC) was a non-profit youth organization. The non-profit served teenagers in both North and South Carolina. In 2008, The Carolina Youth Commission expanded to serve entities outside of the two-states, reorganizing and changing its name to Youth Commission International.

CYC is a parachurch school-based organization that equips teens to serve their peers, and to be a Christian influence on their middle school and high school campuses. The organization also serves as a youth ministry network hub connecting local church youth pastors to students, to one another, and to useful teen ministries, secular and Christian. CYC hosts a few large events that draw thousands of participants yearly, including the Eagle Awards Celebration, and the Battle of the Bands competition.

CYC partners with many organizations, most-notably the YMCA, The United Way, Youth For Christ, Steelroots, and the National Network of Youth Ministries (NNYM).

Famous quotes containing the words carolina, youth and/or commission:

I hear ... foreigners, who would boycott an employer if he hired a colored workman, complain of wrong and oppression, of low wages and long hours, clamoring for eight-hour systems ... ah, come with me, I feel like saying, I can show you workingmen’s wrong and workingmen’s toil which, could it speak, would send up a wail that might be heard from the Potomac to the Rio Grande; and should it unite and act, would shake this country from Carolina to California.
    Anna Julia Cooper (1859–1964)

So nigh is grandeur to our dust,
So near is God to man,
When Duty whispers low, Thou must,
    The youth replies, I can.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The Church seems to totter to its fall, almost all life extinct. On this occasion, any complaisance would be criminal which told you, whose hope and commission it is to preach the faith of Christ, that the faith of Christ is preached.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
