The Big Give - The Big Give Quiz

The Big Give Quiz

At 7:30 pm on Wednesday, 20 June 2012, the Big Give hosted the inaugural online Big Give Quiz. Over 200 supporters took part and helped to raise over £2,500 for a whole range of charities on the Big Give website.

Supporters were invited to take part by the Big Give and by charities who wanted teams to compete on their behalf. With every supporter’s £10 entry fee going directly to the charity of their choice, charities were able to benefit from additional donations regardless of the success of their teams.

There were 75 questions in total, with rounds ranging from riddles and general knowledge to Olympic trivia and picture rounds.

The Second Big Give Quiz took place on Wednesday 3 October 2012. Once again, the participation fees went to the charity of the participant's choosing. For the second quiz, the Big Give incorporated fewer traditional questions to reduce the opportunity for teams to surreptitiously include the internet as a team member. The winning team received a £250 voucher to give to charity through the Big Give and a £250 cash prize.

Famous quotes containing the words the big, big and/or give:

The name of the town isn’t important. It’s the one that’s just twenty-eight minutes from the big city. Twenty-three if you catch the morning express. It’s on a river and it’s got houses and stores and churches. And a main street. Nothing fancy like Broadway or Market, just plain Broadway. Drug, dry good, shoes. Those horrible little chain stores that breed like rabbits.
    Joseph L. Mankiewicz (1909–1993)

If our caricaturists do not hate their enemies, it is not because they are too big to hate them, but because their enemies are not big enough to hate.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

In the planning and designing of new communities, housing projects, and urban renewal, the planners both public and private, need to give explicit consideration to the kind of world that is being created for the children who will be growing up in these settings. Particular attention should be given to the opportunities which the environment presents or precludes for involvement of children with persons both older and younger than themselves.
    Urie Bronfenbrenner (b. 1917)
