The Appeal of Conscience Foundation - World Statesman of The Year

World Statesman of The Year

In 2009 the Foundation awarded the title of 'World Statesman of the Year' to the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, for his intellectual and compassionate leadership during the global financial crisis. Previous awardees include: the French president Nicolas Sarkozy and German chancellor Angela Merkel.

The 2012 recipient was Canada's "Prime Minister", Stephen Harper, in spite of his disdain of and disregard for democracy, ignorance of Canadian First Nations citizens, ignorance of climate change and green energy, legislating labour unions back to work during legitamite work actions, and muzzling federal scientists and librarians.

The 2013 recipient was controversially Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Famous quotes containing the words world, statesman and/or year:

Is not this whole world an illusion? And yet it fools everybody.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

The man of large and conspicuous public service in civil life must be content without the Presidency. Still more, the availability of a popular man in a doubtful State will secure him the prize in a close contest against the first statesman of the country whose State is safe.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

A writer is in danger of allowing his talent to dull who lets more than a year go past without finding himself in his rightful place of composition, the small single unluxurious “retreat” of the twentieth century, the hotel bedroom.
    Cyril Connolly (1903–1974)
