Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police, formerly known as Thames Valley Constabulary, is the territorial police force responsible for policing the Thames Valley area covered by the ceremonial counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. It is one of the largest territorial police forces in England and the largest non-metropolitan one, covering 2200 sq mi (5,700 kmĀ²) and a population of 2,180,200 people.

Thames Valley Police has recently been working very closely with neighboring force Hampshire Constabulary which will see the merger of its Firearms, IT, Roads Policing & Dog Units in late 2012, to save money.

Famous quotes containing the words thames, valley and/or police:

I wander thro’ each charter’d street,
Near where the charter’d Thames does flow,
And mark in every face I meet
Marks of weakness, marks of woe.
    William Blake (1757–1827)

In a valley late bees with whining gold
Thread summer to the loose ends of sleep....
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

Now, honestly: if a large group of ... demonstrators blocked the entrances to St. Patrick’s Cathedral every Sunday for years, making it impossible for worshipers to get inside the church without someone escorting them through screaming crowds, wouldn’t some judge rule that those protesters could keep protesting, but behind police lines and out of the doorways?
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1953)
