Texas State Highway 210

State Highway 210 (SH 210) is a proposed state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that runs from I-610 on the western side of Houston to downtown near Union Station. This appears to be the route that the proposed Harrisburg Freeway was going to take. Due to opposition, that freeway project was cancelled.

Famous quotes containing the words texas, state and/or highway:

Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word. And there’s an opening convey of generalities. A Texan outside of Texas is a foreigner.
    John Steinbeck (1902–1968)

... the idea of a classless society is ... a disastrous mirage which cannot be maintained without tyranny of the few over the many. It is even more pernicious culturally than politically, not because the monolithic state forces the party line upon its intellectuals and artists, but because it has no social patterns to reflect.
    Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)

In one notable instance, where the United States Army and a hundred years of persuasion failed, a highway has succeeded. The Seminole Indians surrendered to the Tamiami Trail. From the Everglades the remnants of this race emerged, soon after the trail was built, to set up their palm-thatched villages along the road and to hoist tribal flags as a lure to passing motorists.
