Administration
Ternate is governed as Ternate City (Kota Ternate) within the province of North Maluku. The kota (city) of Ternate has seven sub-districts (kecamatan):
- Pulau Ternate
- Moti
- North Ternate
- South Ternate
- Central Ternate
- Pulau Hiri
- Pulau-Pulau Batang Dua
