Telephone Numbers in Switzerland - National Destination Code

National Destination Code

The national destination code (NDC) is the area code prefix for Swiss telephone numbers. Within Switzerland the trunk code 0 must be dialed before the NDC, while it is not needed from international locations.

The closed numbering plan prescribes that subscribers are assigned telephone numbers of a standard length of nine digits. Two formats are distinguished: 2 digits for the NDC and 7 digits for the subscriber number, and 3 digits for the NDC and 6 digits for the subscriber number. A few exceptions exist as described in the following table.

The numbers are portable between numbering zones (ZN) or between GSM/UTMS mobile operators, and therefore an NDC does not imply that the subscriber is in a particular zone or that he uses a particular mobile operator.

The national destination codes are the following.

Famous quotes containing the words national, destination and/or code:

You are, or you are not the President of The National University Law School. If you are its President I wish to say to you that I have been passed through the curriculum of study of that school, and am entitled to, and demand my Diploma. If you are not its President then I ask you to take your name from its papers, and not hold out to the world to be what you are not.
    Belva Lockwood (1830–1917)

If we are always arriving and departing, it is also true that we are eternally anchored. One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things.
    Henry Miller (1891–1980)

Motion or change, and identity or rest, are the first and second secrets of nature: Motion and Rest. The whole code of her laws may be written on the thumbnail, or the signet of a ring.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
