Telephone Numbers In Finland
Both Finland and the Ă…land Islands share the same country code.
Country Code: +358
International Call Prefix: 00
Trunk Prefix: 0
Finland's numbering plan was reorganised in 1996, with the number of area codes being reduced, and the trunk code being changed from 9 to 0. This meant that the area code for Helsinki also changed:
Within Finland | Outside Finland | |
---|---|---|
Before 1996 | 90 xxx xxx | +358 0 xxx xxx |
After 1996 | 09 xxx xxx | +358 9 xxx xxx |
The default international access code became 00, although other codes such as 990-999 are also still used.

Famous quotes containing the words telephone and/or numbers:
“The press and politicians. A delicate relationship. Too close, and danger ensues. Too far apart and democracy itself cannot function without the essential exchange of information. Creative leaks, a discreet lunch, interchange in the Lobby, the art of the unattributable telephone call, late at night.”
—Howard Brenton (b. 1942)
“The principle of majority rule is the mildest form in which the force of numbers can be exercised. It is a pacific substitute for civil war in which the opposing armies are counted and the victory is awarded to the larger before any blood is shed. Except in the sacred tests of democracy and in the incantations of the orators, we hardly take the trouble to pretend that the rule of the majority is not at bottom a rule of force.”
—Walter Lippmann (18891974)
