Collect Calls
Domestic collect calls are placed by dialing 19 from any landline or payphone. Then, the caller is supposed to say his/her name which will be inserted and played in a pre-recorded message once the person being called answers the phone. If the latter accepts the collect call by pressing a certain key, the two parties are connected.
International collect calls are placed via the international operator dialing 000. This number also provides international assistance, such as country and area codes, rates, etc.

Famous quotes containing the words collect and/or calls:
“[A] Dada exhibition. Another one! What’s the matter with everyone wanting to make a museum piece out of Dada? Dada was a bomb ... can you imagine anyone, around half a century after a bomb explodes, wanting to collect the pieces, sticking it together and displaying it?”
—Max Ernst (1891–1976)
“Dust rises from the main road and old Délira is stooping in front of her hut. She doesn’t look up, she softly shakes her head, her headkerchief all askew, letting out a strand of grey hair powdered, it appears, with the same dust pouring through her fingers like a rosary of misery. She repeats, “we will all die”, and she calls on the good Lord.”
—Jacques Roumain (1907–1945)
