Taxicabs of Hong Kong - Share Taxi

Share Taxi

One form of operations is that the taxi is operated as a shared taxi. In late night a taxicab is operated over long distances whilst the driver only drives off when the cab is fully loaded. In turn the cab driver charges a fare that is lower than the prescribed fare that would appear on the taxi meter. The passengers wait aboard the cab until it is fully loaded, and they may not necessarily know each other on the trip.

This form of taxi operation is considered illegal under the laws of Hong Kong because the driver charges a fare different from the one on the taxi meter.

Famous quotes containing the words share and/or taxi:

How difficult the task to quench the fire and the pride of private ambition, and to sacrifice ourselves and all our hopes and expectations to the public weal! How few have souls capable of so noble an undertaking! How often are the laurels worn by those who have had no share in earning them! But there is a future recompense of reward, to which the upright man looks, and which he will most assuredly obtain, provided he perseveres unto the end.
    Abigail Adams (1744–1818)

Pockets: What color is a giraffe?
    Dallas: Well, mostly yellow.
Pockets: And what’s the color of a New York taxi cab?
    Dallas: Mostly yellow.
Pockets: I drove a cab in Brooklyn. I just pretend it’s rush hour in Flatbush and in I go.
    Leigh Brackett (1915–1978)
