Tattenham Corner Railway Station - Incidents

Incidents

Early on the morning of 1 December 1993, and under the influence of alcohol, the driver of a train from London Victoria failed to stop at the terminus and took the train through the buffers, across the station concourse and into the wooden station building, which had survived intact for 92 years. No one was hurt, but the station, a listed building, was severely damaged (it was subsequently demolished).

Famous quotes containing the word incidents:

An element of exaggeration clings to the popular judgment: great vices are made greater, great virtues greater also; interesting incidents are made more interesting, softer legends more soft.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)
