Tasmanian A-League Bid

The Tasmanian A-League Bid, under the working name of Tasmania United FC, is a proposed Tasmania-based A-League association football (soccer) club. In late 2010 a business plan was developed investigating the feasibility of such a proposal, however at the media release of the bid, where Tasmania United FC officials were absent, the State Government and Football Federation Tasmania made it clear that any such bid would be run by the State Government and not by any third party. The State Government then concluded that they had no interest in supporting such a proposal and would prefer to invest in youth development and encouraging state visits of other A-league clubs. Tasmania United FC officials have stated that they will press on without assistance from the State Government and Football Federation Tasmania, no further comment to the media has been made.

Famous quotes containing the word bid:

The moment the very name of Ireland is mentioned, the English seem to bid adieu to common feeling, common prudence, and common sense, and to act with the barbarity of tyrants, and the fatuity of idiots.
    Sydney Smith (1771–1845)
