History

The Tashkent International School started in 1994 with the help of the United Nations. There are teachers from many countries including US, Canada, the UK, Republic of Ireland, Holland, France, New Zealand, Turkey, Australia, Armenia, South Africa, India and Uzbekistan. Many American and international universities have accepted the graduates of TIS, including very good universities such as Harvard.

The Tashkent International School had to change campuses once. They spent a lot of effort constructing the present school building.

There have been many directors who have been good and caring to students and faculty. The directors are John Thomas, Kevin Glass and Robert Brindley. To learn more about the director visit Director's Welcome.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

There is a constant in the average American imagination and taste, for which the past must be preserved and celebrated in full-scale authentic copy; a philosophy of immortality as duplication. It dominates the relation with the self, with the past, not infrequently with the present, always with History and, even, with the European tradition.
    Umberto Eco (b. 1932)

The history of any nation follows an undulatory course. In the trough of the wave we find more or less complete anarchy; but the crest is not more or less complete Utopia, but only, at best, a tolerably humane, partially free and fairly just society that invariably carries within itself the seeds of its own decadence.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)

No one is ahead of his time, it is only that the particular variety of creating his time is the one that his contemporaries who are also creating their own time refuse to accept.... For a very long time everybody refuses and then almost without a pause almost everybody accepts. In the history of the refused in the arts and literature the rapidity of the change is always startling.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)
