Tanner Walle - History

History

2002-Present

After graduating in 2002, Walle relocated to Lawrence, Kansas where he attended the University of Kansas for three years. During this time, in the summer of 2004, Walle recorded his first full-length album, It Was, with producer/engineer Robert Rebeck at Chapman Studios in Kansas City. It Was was not immediately successful, but has had continuous sales in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

In the spring of 2005, Walle began writing and recording his second record The Future of Tape with DJNOTADJ member Jerett Fulton. Fulton's recording studio Mixtape Soundlab hosted their collaborative efforts until the spring of 2007 when they released the album on Mixtape Meditation Records. Their CD release was held at the Granada Theater in Lawrence, KS on March 2, 2007.

In the summer of 2007, Walle again relocated to New York City and now resides in Brooklyn.

Shelf Life

In Winter 2010, Walle held a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to release his third studio album. The campaign, titled "What's Tanner Walle's Shelf Life?", help initiate the project financially. In April 2011, Walle and his band began recording at Vel Records in Dumbo, Brooklyn as well as at 37' Productions in Rockland, MA with engineer Sean McLaughlin. Throughout the summer of 2011, Walle maintained both a team effort and a DIY approach, interacting with his Kickstarter backers through video and audio updates.

"Shelf Life" was released on February 7th, 2012 to all major digital outlets. In conjunction with the release of the record, Walle held a charity event for Education Through Music, a non-profit organization promoting the integration of music into the curricula of disadvantaged schools in order to enhance students' academic performance and general development. Walle chose the charity, in part, because of his involvement in elementary education during his time in Phoenix, AZ.

With the release of "Shelf Life," Walle and his band will be touring in 2012 throughout the United States.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

When the history of this period is written, [William Jennings] Bryan will stand out as one of the most remarkable men of his generation and one of the biggest political men of our country.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

All things are moral. That soul, which within us is a sentiment, outside of us is a law. We feel its inspiration; out there in history we can see its fatal strength.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

He wrote in prison, not a History of the World, like Raleigh, but an American book which I think will live longer than that. I do not know of such words, uttered under such circumstances, and so copiously withal, in Roman or English or any history.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
