Tania Zaetta - Australian Defence Force Tour Controversy

Australian Defence Force Tour Controversy

Zaetta toured Australian Defence Force bases in Afghanistan and Iraq during early 2008 with a group of entertainers including 12 members of the Royal Australian Navy's band, Angry Anderson, The Wolverines, and others. After the tour, accusations arose in the media that Zaetta had enaged in sexual relations with one of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SAS). This was quickly denied by Zaetta and members of the touring group. The following day, an unreserved apology was given by the Department of Defence. In September 2009, the dispute was settled out of court with Zaetta for an undisclosed sum.

Famous quotes containing the words australian, defence, force, tour and/or controversy:

    The Australian mind, I can state with authority, is easily boggled.
    Charles Osborne (b. 1927)

    Sow seed—but let no tyrant reap;
    Find wealth—let no imposter heap;
    Weave robes—let not the idle wear;
    Forge arms—in your defence to bear.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

    What I am anxious to do is to get the best bill possible with the least amount of friction.... I wish to avoid [splitting our party]. I shall do all in my power to retain the corporation tax as it is now and also force a reduction of the [tariff] schedules. It is only when all other efforts fail that I’ll resort to headlines and force the people into this fight.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

    Do you know I believe that [William Jennings] Bryan will force his nomination on the Democrats again. I believe he will either do this by advocating Prohibition, or else he will run on a Prohibition platform independent of the Democrats. But you will see that the year before the election he will organize a mammoth lecture tour and will make Prohibition the leading note of every address.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

    And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)
