Taliparamba is the second largest Taluk in Kerala. Taliparamba is a municipality. The municipality has an area of 43.08 km2. It is divided into 44 wards. The headquarter of Taliparamba Taluk is also located in Taliparamba. There are 47 villages in the taluk. They spread from coast to the hills. 13 Village panchayats that form the particular block panchayat are the following.

  • Chengalai
  • Cherukunnu in Kannur Taluk (part)
  • Kalliasseri in Kannur Taluk (part)
  • Kannapuram in Kannur Taluk(part)
  • Kurumathur
  • Naduvil
  • Narath in Kannur Taluk (part)
  • Pappinisseri in Kannur Taluk (part)
  • Pariyaram
  • Pattuvam
  • Udayagiri
There is also Payyanur and Irikkur block Panchayats in this Taluk.

It is also an Assembly constituency and traditionally the left wing parties had been winning from this seat. At present James Mathew is the MLA. Parts of this constituency belong to Kannur Parliamentary constituency. There is also a police station and court. Other 2 L.A. constituencies are Payyanur and Irikkur. Shri. C. Krishnaan & Shri. K.C. Joseph are representing these 2 L. A. Constituencies.

Taliparamba is home to a number of Temples, Churches and Mosques. Temples include Rajarajeshwara Temple, Trichambaram Temple and Parassinikkadavu Temple. Taliparamba Juma Masjid and St.Mary's Church are other prominent religious centers in the town.
