Talib bin Ali Al Hinai was the younger brother of Imam Ghalib bin Ali Al Hinai, who was the ruler (Imam) of Oman from 1954 to 1959. The country was in a struggle between Said bin Taimoor Al Said and Ghalib Bin Ali for the imama (rule) of Oman. Said bin Taimoor had the help of the British, but many times they were thrashed by Talib bin Ali's forces and battlefield tactics. Imam Ghalib's troops were defeated in Jebel Akhdar war in 1959 by Al Said and the Imama was ended giving way to the present day Sultanate.
