Like contemporaries such as Crank! and Century, Tales of the Unanticipated strove from its inception to showcase fiction, poetry and articles that are ostensibly speculative fiction, yet transcend parochial notions of genre fiction.

Famous quotes containing the words tales of and/or tales:

    Shall we rest us here,
    And by relating tales of others’ griefs,
    See if ‘twill teach us to forget our own?
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Among the Indians he had fought;
    And with him many tales he brought
    Of pleasure and of fear;
    Such tales as told to any Maid
    By such a Youth, in the green shade,
    Were perilous to hear.
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)
