Taiwan Livestock Research Institute

The Taiwan Livestock Research Institute (TLRI, 畜產試驗所), in Sinhua, Taiwan, conducts research on animal breeding, physiology, nutrition and feeding techniques, animal waste treatment and utilization of byproducts, animal product processing, and forage crops. The institute has cloned pigs, goats, and cows.

The TLRI was established as a horse-breeding farm in 1940 by the Japanese colonial authorities. Between 1945 and 1952 it was a horse farm under the supervision of Taiwan Province, Republic of China. It is now a unit of the central government's Council of Agriculture.

Famous quotes containing the words research and/or institute:

Men talk, but rarely about anything personal. Recent research on friendship ... has shown that male relationships are based on shared activities: men tend to do things together rather than simply be together.... Female friendships, particularly close friendships, are usually based on self-disclosure, or on talking about intimate aspects of their lives.
    Bettina Arndt (20th century)

Whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, & to institute new government, laying it’s foundation on such principles & organising it’s powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety & happiness.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
