Birth and Early Life
Sundram Iyengar was born in Thirukkurungudi, Tirunelveli District in the present day Tamil Nadu (then part of Madras Presidency) in 1877. Sundram Iyengar started his initial career as a lawyer, as per his father's wishes, then moved to work for the Indian railways and later in a bank.
