Systemic scleroderma is a rare disease with and annual incidence of 1 to 2 per 100,000 individuals in the United States. The interval of peak onset starts at age 30 to 35 and ends at age 50 to 55.

In the United States, the prevalence of systemic scleroderma is about 50,000, with different studies giving different estimates, usually ranging between 40,000 and 165,000.
