He started politics after joining Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam. He was also a student of Hazrat Ameer-e-Shariat Syed Ata Ullah Shah Bukhari. He worked for Ahrar and struggle against Qadianis. He participated in the Pakistan movement (Tehrik-e-Pakistan) and supported the Lahore Resolution, the formal political statement adopted by the All India Muslim League in 1940.

After Pakistan came into being, he argued for the establishment of Islamic laws there. He was given a Government award for his participation in the 1965 war.

He was the President of Jamiat Ulamaye Pakistan, Pakistan for ten years, and of Jamiatul Mashaikh Pakistan until his death. He was also President of Anjman Naqshbandi Mujaddidi, Pakistan.
