Sydney New Year's Eve 2004–05

Sydney New Year's Eve 2004–05 was the 10th Sydney New Year's Eve held at Sydney Harbour on the evening of 31 December 2004 and in the early hours of 1 January 2005. The Nine Network broadcast the event for their tenth consecutive year, the same amount of time Richard Wilkins had hosted it for at the time. The theme was previously revealed to be "Reflections" with fireworks once again produced by Foti International Fireworks. This was Leo Schofield's third and final year as creative director. He was succeeded by Wayne Harrison.

Famous quotes containing the words eve, year and/or sydney:

It gets to seem as if way back in the Garden of Eden after the Fall, Adam and Eve had begged the Lord to forgive them and He, in his boundless exasperation, had said, “All right, then. Stay. Stay in the Garden. Get civilized. Procreate. Muck it up.” And they did.
    Diane Arbus (1923–1971)

The boys dressed themselves, hid their accoutrements, and went off grieving that there were no outlaws any more, and wondering what modern civilization could claim to have done to compensate for their loss. They said they would rather be outlaws a year in Sherwood Forest than President of the United States forever.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

What is more hopelessly uninteresting than accomplished liberty? Great swarming, teeming Sydney flowing out into these myriads of bungalows, like shallow waters spreading, undyked. And what then? Nothing. No inner life, no high command, no interest in anything finally.
