Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC) is an independent, evangelical interdenominational Bible college in Sydney, Australia.
The college was formed in 1916 by Rev. C. Benson Barnett. Its goal is to train people for ministry in Australia and abroad. There are two campuses, one in Croydon and a new one in Croydon Park opened in 2010.
According to Eternity newspaper, 'the growth in student numbers created a need for a second campus, a few streets away from its Croydon home. The new campus which opened this year (2010) is named the “Roberts-Dale” Campus after two SMBC martyred graduates from the 1930s and 60’s. SMBC opened several new student housing units on its main campus in 2009.' The college maintains the focus of preparing students for cross-cultural gospel work.
David Cook was principal of SMBC, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his appointment as Principal in 2010. He retired as Principal of SMBC at the end of 2011.
Rev. Stuart Coulton has been Interim -Principal since the start of 2012. Stuart was appointed as the principal of SMBC on Wednesday, 25 July 2012.
SMBC graduates include The Rev Phil Howes from All Saints Anglican Cathedral in Bathurst, overseeing a revitalisation of youth outreach to the Central West of New South Wales, Australia. SMBC also trains and sends a significant number of students proceeding on to missionary work throughout the world.
SMBC has hosted various public talks on issues that confront Christians such as abortion.
