Sydney Medical School - Sydney Medical Program

Sydney Medical Program

The School offers a four-year graduate medical program that leads to the awards of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Entry into the Sydney Medical Program is on the basis of a satisfactory grade point average, the Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test score, and performance in a multiple mini-interview. Each year's cohort has approximately 300 students enrolled, an appreciable proportion of which are international students.

Key course features include a hybrid problem-based learning model, early clinical exposure, online learning resources, and a focus on evidence-based medicine, which were modelled on aspects of the New Pathway MD program at Harvard Medical School. The curriculum has won numerous teaching awards and is licensed to universities in the UK, South Africa and the Middle East and to other universities in Australia.

Famous quotes containing the words sydney, medical and/or program:

Turn up the lights; I don’t want to go home in the dark.
    O. Henry [William Sydney Porter] (1862–1910)

Every day our garments become more assimilated to ourselves, receiving the impress of the wearer’s character, until we hesitate to lay them aside without such delay and medical appliances and some such solemnity even as our bodies.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Mead had studied for the ministry, but had lost his faith and took great delight in blasphemy. Capt. Charles H. Frady, pioneer missionary, held a meeting here and brought Mead back into the fold. He then became so devout that, one Sunday, when he happened upon a swimming party, he shot at the people in the river, and threatened to kill anyone he again caught desecrating the Sabbath.
