The inaugural Australian Rugby Championship, starting in August 2007, includes eight teams of which three of which are based in the state of New South Wales. Prior to the announcement of Sydney's name, logo and colours, the coaching set up for the inaugural season was unveiled in January 2007. The three man coaching team was led by NSW Country head coach Col Jeffs, with former Wallaby and Waratah Scott Bowen (Easts head coach) and former Waratah and Italy Test lock Mark Giacheri (Randwick head coach) the assistant coaches. The name, logo and team colours were unveiled 27 February 2007 at a launch aboard the museum ship HMAS Vampire at the Australian National Maritime Museum, in Darling Harbour.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

What is most interesting and valuable in it, however, is not the materials for the history of Pontiac, or Braddock, or the Northwest, which it furnishes; not the annals of the country, but the natural facts, or perennials, which are ever without date. When out of history the truth shall be extracted, it will have shed its dates like withered leaves.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I believe my ardour for invention springs from his loins. I can’t say that the brassiere will ever take as great a place in history as the steamboat, but I did invent it.
    Caresse Crosby (1892–1970)

The principle office of history I take to be this: to prevent virtuous actions from being forgotten, and that evil words and deeds should fear an infamous reputation with posterity.
    Tacitus (c. 55–117)
