Syd Barker Medal - Harold Henderson Best Club-Man Award

Harold Henderson Best Club-Man Award

Presented alongside the Syd Barker Medal is the Harold Henderson Award, given to the player who has been the best club-man during the season. The award is similar to the Syd Barker Medal but it rewards players who have shown exemplary behaviour off the field. The award has been presented continuously since 1984 in the name of Harold Henderson who died earlier that year.

Harold Henderson was a North Melbourne stalwart who showed a capacity and enthusiasm to get things done. He played a large role in the establishment of the North Melbourne Football Social Club. Its main building in Fogarty Street still bears the name The Harold R. Henderson Pavilion, a permanent tribute to the lasting contribution he made to the club he loved and served so well, particularly in a critical time in its history.

Famous quotes containing the words harold and/or award:

Together, we three, until the world crumbles and there is no longer a stone or a rock or a tree or a blade of grass.
Griffin Jay, and Harold Young. Mehemet Bey (Turhan Bey)

The award of a pure gold medal for poetry would flatter the recipient unduly: no poem ever attains such carat purity.
    Robert Graves (1895–1985)
