Sycorax in Fiction
Sycorax is the name of an alien species in the long-running British TV drama Doctor Who, who attempted to invade Earth in The Christmas Invasion. Shortly after the Tenth Doctor's first meeting with the aliens, during a trip back in time to show his companion Martha Jones the wonders of the Shakespearean age, he claims that an animal skull he finds in a little shop in The Globe Theater reminds him of the Sycorax. Shakespeare overhears the name and likes it enough to use it as a character name in his play, The Tempest.
