Final Scores and Tie-breaking
The tournament lasts for a number of rounds announced before the tournament. After the last round, players are ranked by their score. If this is tied then a tie break score, such as the sum of all their opponents' scores (Buchholz chess rating), can be used: see Tie-breaking in Swiss system tournaments.

Famous quotes containing the words final and/or scores:
“Man, her last work, who seemed so fair,
Such splendid purpose in his eyes,
Who rolled the psalm to wintry skies,
Who built him fanes of fruitless prayer,
Who trusted God was love indeed
And love Creations final law
Though Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shrieked against his creed”
—Alfred Tennyson (18091892)
“It is not he who gains the exact point in dispute who scores most in controversybut he who has shown the better temper.”
—Samuel Butler (18351902)
