Swift Vets and POWs for Truth, formerly known as the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVT), was a political group (527 group) of United States Swift boat veterans and former prisoners of war of the Vietnam War, formed during the 2004 presidential election campaign for the purpose of opposing John Kerry's candidacy for the presidency. The campaign inspired the widely-used political pejorative "swiftboating." The group disbanded and ceased operations on May 31, 2008.

Famous quotes containing the words swift and/or truth:
“Now hardly here and there an hackney coach
Appearing, showed the ruddy morns approach.
Now Betty from her masters bed had flown,
And softly stole to discompose her own;
The slipshod prentice from his masters door
Had pared the dirt, and sprinkled round the floor.”
—Jonathan Swift (16671745)
“Of old the world on dreaming fed;
Grey Truth is now her painted toy....”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
