Sweet Talkin' Spoon Song

Sweet Talkin' Spoon Song

The Beginning of the Enz is a 1979 release from New Zealand rock group Split Enz. The album is a collection of songs and demos from the early days of the band. Several of these songs, such as 129, Lovey Dovey and Spellbound were later re-recorded and included on albums such as Mental Notes and Second Thoughts.

The album did not chart in Australia but reached #35 in New Zealand.

An unrelated compilation album, Beginning of the Enz (dropping "The" from the title), was released in England in 1980 by Chrysalis Records and mainly included tracks from 1976's Second Thoughts and 1977's Dizrythmia. It also included the first album appearance of the 1977 non-album single "Another Great Divide".

Famous quotes containing the words sweet, spoon and/or song:

The sensual and spiritual are linked together by a mysterious bond, sensed by our emotions, though hidden from our eyes. To this double nature of the visible and invisible world—to the profound longing for the latter, coupled with the feeling of the sweet necessity for the former, we owe all sound and logical systems of philosophy, truly based on the immutable principles of our nature, just as from the same source arise the most senseless enthusiasms.
    Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt (1767–1835)

No spoon has yet destroyed a mouth, but the knife of war cuts portions that are hard to swallow. Perhaps the big mouths of the privileged are able to cope with them, but they dull the teeth of the little people and ruin their stomachs.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

    Lest all the song notes
    pause and break
    across a blood-stained throat
    gone songless,
    turn back.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)
