Sweeping Up The Spotlight

Sweeping Up The Spotlight

Sweeping Up the Spotlight: Live at the Fillmore East 1969 is the 2007 release of songs from the Jefferson Airplane concerts at New York's Fillmore East, recorded on November 28 & 29 1969. It is also the first American release for the band since 1998, and was assembled by the band's manager, Bill Thompson. It should not be confused with the similarly named Live at the Fillmore East, a recording of a Jefferson Airplane concert given the previous year.

    The Sweeping up the Heart
    And putting Love away
We shall not want to use again
    Until Eternity.

    The Sweeping up the Heart
    And putting Love away
We shall not want to use again
    Until Eternity.
    Emily Dickinson (1830–1886)

The windy springs and the blazing summers, one after another, had enriched and mellowed that flat tableland; all the human effort that had gone into it was coming back in long, sweeping lines of fertility. The changes seemed beautiful and harmonious to me; it was like watching the growth of a great man or of a great idea. I recognized every tree and sandbank and rugged draw. I found that I remembered the conformation of the land as one remembers the modelling of human faces.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)
