The fastest scheduled service between Cardiff and Port Talbot takes 30 minutes, and several others are timed at 31 minutes. One of the services that uses the Swansea district line is timed at 29 minutes from Port Talbot to Llanelli. Added together, Cardiff to Llanelli with a 90 mph-capable unit calling at Bridgend and Port Talbot would only take an hour if the Swansea district line was used, and to its full potential.
