Swanbourne - Business and Transport

Business and Transport

There is a general store and sub-post office in Mursley Road. Also in Mursley Road is a public house and restaurant which opened at the end of July 2006 and won some acclaim. It is called The Betsey Wynne after the diarist ancestor of the Fremantles. It specializes in English food and drink and self-grown produce. Swanbourne Tearooms in Winslow Road also serves lunches. Bed and breakfast accommodation is available at the Cherry Tree in Tattams Lane.

There are limited weekday bus services between Swanbourne and Winslow, Bletchley or Milton Keynes.

From 1851 to 1967, Swanbourne had its own railway station on the Varsity Line, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the village and half way to Little Horwood. It was also about the same distance from Mursley. The nearest train station today is at Bletchley (14 km).

Famous quotes containing the words business and/or transport:

Some of the smartest women in the country said that they’re too embarrassed to attend their reunions at Harvard Business School if they have dropped out of the work force, left the fast track by choosing part-time work, or decided to follow anything other than the standard male career path.
    Deborah J. Swiss (20th century)

One may disavow and disclaim vices that surprise us, and whereto our passions transport us; but those which by long habits are rooted in a strong and ... powerful will are not subject to contradiction. Repentance is but a denying of our will, and an opposition of our fantasies.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
