Sustainable Communities Plan - Definition

Definition

The government defined a sustainable community as:

Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work, now and in the future. They meet the diverse needs of existing and future residents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and run, and offer equality of opportunity and good services for all.

Amongst other policies the Sustainable Communities Plan aimed to regenerate the industrial urban belt in northern England, stretching from Hull to Liverpool and provide hundreds of thousands of homes in South East England centred around the key growth areas of the Thames Gateway, around Luton and Milton Keynes, and the wider area around Cambridge.

Famous quotes containing the word definition:

According to our social pyramid, all men who feel displaced racially, culturally, and/or because of economic hardships will turn on those whom they feel they can order and humiliate, usually women, children, and animals—just as they have been ordered and humiliated by those privileged few who are in power. However, this definition does not explain why there are privileged men who behave this way toward women.
    Ana Castillo (b. 1953)

It is very hard to give a just definition of love. The most we can say of it is this: that in the soul, it is a desire to rule; in the spirit, it is a sympathy; and in the body, it is but a hidden and subtle desire to possess—after many mysteries—what one loves.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

... we all know the wag’s definition of a philanthropist: a man whose charity increases directly as the square of the distance.
