Susquehanna Valley Country Club - History

History

The Susquehanna Valley Country Club was originally founded in 1909 as the Rolling Green Country Club. Ten years later, on July 12, 1919, the Club adopted its current name. At this time, ground was broken for the new clubhouse. The Club continued to expand and in 1950 added a swimming pool and nine-hole golf course. The back nine was then added in 1959. A larger, second swimming pool was constructed in the 1960s.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

    You that would judge me do not judge alone
    This book or that, come to this hallowed place
    Where my friends’ portraits hang and look thereon;
    Ireland’s history in their lineaments trace;
    Think where man’s glory most begins and ends
    And say my glory was I had such friends.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    The basic idea which runs right through modern history and modern liberalism is that the public has got to be marginalized. The general public are viewed as no more than ignorant and meddlesome outsiders, a bewildered herd.
    Noam Chomsky (b. 1928)

    The one duty we owe to history is to rewrite it.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
