Types
The following instrument types are the most commonly used as hand-held survey meters. The primary practical applications are listed.
- Scintillation counter
Used for alpha, beta and neutron measurement
- Geiger counter
Used for alpha, beta and gamma measurement
- ion chamber
Used for beta, gamma and X-ray measurement
