Surjan Singh Gill

Surjan Singh Gill was a suspect in the bombing of Air India Flight 182, and has been alleged to have been a possible Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) mole.

Gill referred to himself by the self-proclaimed title of "Consular General of Khalistan", and was a member of Babbar Khalsa up until three days before the bombing . It has been suggested that CSIS wanted to pull "their man" out of the group as soon as they realised that a serious plot was underway and about to take place.

Although a central figure in the investigation, Gill was never charged and disappeared after flying to the United Kingdom.

Famous quotes containing the words singh and/or gill:

    When there is affection,
    Never go into business together.
If you have to, never borrow.
If you have lent, willingly forget it.
Punjabi proverb, trans. by Gurinder Singh Mann.

Culture is a sham if it is only a sort of Gothic front put on an iron building—like Tower Bridge—or a classical front put on a steel frame—like the Daily Telegraph building in Fleet Street. Culture, if it is to be a real thing and a holy thing, must be the product of what we actually do for a living—not something added, like sugar on a pill.
