Surf II - Home Video

Home Video

Surf II was released on VHS in January 1985 through Media Home Entertainment, who retained its distribution rights until ceasing operations in 1992. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Surf II was occasionally shown on late night B-movie program USA Up All Night, and would sometimes be used as late night filler on HBO.

There has yet to be an official North American DVD release for Surf II, presumably due to rights regarding the soundtrack. An unlicensed DVD copy had been released only in Italy, formatted as a Region 2 PAL DVD, which is now out of print. As a result of its unavailability, vintage VHS copies of Surf II usually average $50 on ebay, and several torrents and bootleg DVDs of the film have surfaced. Currently, the film in its entirety has been unofficially uploaded to YouTube.

Famous quotes containing the words home and/or video:

Our home has been nothing but a play-room. I’ve been your doll-wife here, just as at home I was Papa’s doll-child. And the children have been my dolls in their turn. I liked it when you came and played with me, just as they liked it when I came and played with them. That’s what our marriage has been, Torvald.
    Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906)

We attempt to remember our collective American childhood, the way it was, but what we often remember is a combination of real past, pieces reshaped by bitterness and love, and, of course, the video past—the portrayals of family life on such television programs as “Leave it to Beaver” and “Father Knows Best” and all the rest.
    Richard Louv (20th century)
