Sunset Rubdown - Musical Style

Musical Style

Sunset Rubdown is built around lyricist Spencer Krug's unique vocals and eccentric musical compositions... Krug's lyrics are characterized by surreal and mythological imagery, and often tell epic stories (notably on their LP Dragonslayer). Musically, the band's sound is highlighted by distinct drum, keyboard, and guitar signatures. The compositions usually have creative melodies, irregular song structures, and simple instrumentation. Sunset Rubdown's live performances emulate the full sound and passion captured on their recordings.

Famous quotes containing the words musical and/or style:

Fifty million Frenchmen can’t be wrong.
    —Anonymous. Popular saying.

Dating from World War I—when it was used by U.S. soldiers—or before, the saying was associated with nightclub hostess Texas Quinan in the 1920s. It was the title of a song recorded by Sophie Tucker in 1927, and of a Cole Porter musical in 1929.

The flattering, if arbitrary, label, First Lady of the Theatre, takes its toll. The demands are great, not only in energy but eventually in dramatic focus. It is difficult, if not impossible, for a star to occupy an inch of space without bursting seams, cramping everyone else’s style and unbalancing a play. No matter how self-effacing a famous player may be, he makes an entrance as a casual neighbor and the audience interest shifts to the house next door.
    Helen Hayes (1900–1993)
