Sufi Barkat Ali - Charity Works

Charity Works

Two free eye camps are held biannually at two different places: Darul Ehsan and a camp at Dalowal. Major operations, such as the removal of cataracts, are performed twice in a year with 100% success by the Muslim doctors coming from all over the world at no cost. The hospital area is about one hundred and twenty five thousand square feet of space affording some twelve hundred beds. Between the two hospitals hundreds of thousand more procedures have been undertaken during the last decade.

Famous quotes containing the words charity and/or works:

Governments can err, Presidents do make mistakes, but the immortal Dante tells us that divine justice weighs the sins of the cold-blooded and the sins of the warm-hearted in different scales. Better the occasional faults of a Government that lives in a spirit of charity than the constant omission of a Government frozen in the ice of its own indifference.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

We all agree now—by “we” I mean intelligent people under sixty—that a work of art is like a rose. A rose is not beautiful because it is like something else. Neither is a work of art. Roses and works of art are beautiful in themselves. Unluckily, the matter does not end there: a rose is the visible result of an infinitude of complicated goings on in the bosom of the earth and in the air above, and similarly a work of art is the product of strange activities in the human mind.
    Clive Bell (1881–1962)
