Social Issues Faced By Sudanese Australians

It has been reported that, due to corruption in Sudan, Australian Sudanese people may distrust authority figures in Australia. The relatively free availability of alcoholic drinks in Australia, in contrast to its strict prohibition in Sudan, has resulted in problems in the Australian Sudanese community with binge drinking. Famous quotes containing the words social, issues and/or faced:

The earth is ready, the time is ripe, for the authoritative expression of the feminine as well as the masculine interpretation of that common social consensus which is slowly writing justice in the State and fraternity in the social order.
    Anna Garlin Spencer (1851–1931)

How to attain sufficient clarity of thought to meet the terrifying issues now facing us, before it is too late, is ... important. Of one thing I feel reasonably sure: we can’t stop to discuss whether the table has or hasn’t legs when the house is burning down over our heads. Nor do the classics per se seem to furnish the kind of education which fits people to cope with a fast-changing civilization.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

The proclamation and repetition of first principles is a constant feature of life in our democracy. Active adherence to these principles, however, has always been considered un-American. We recipients of the boon of liberty have always been ready, when faced with discomfort, to discard any and all first principles of liberty, and, further, to indict those who do not freely join with us in happily arrogating those principles.
    David Mamet (b. 1947)
