Subway Academy I is a public alternative high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the oldest alternative schools in Toronto. The school got its name from the fact that it is near the Toronto subway's Donlands station. Subway I shares a building with Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute, and has courses from grades 9 to 12, however, only students from 17 to 21 years of age are accepted. Another school, Subway Academy II, was opened, that was based on its program. Originally, Subway Academy I was simply called "Subway Academy", but after Subway Academy II opened, the name was changed to "Subway Academy I". Nearby landmarks include the Greenwood Subway Yard, and the aforementioned Donlands station.
