- Turner was awarded the Bronze Star for destroying a Russian submarine that was carrying a "dirty nuke" warhead that had been fired onto a battle group containing an American Aircraft Carrier in Season 7 Episode 24 (awarded Season 8 Episode 13). Due to receiving a combat decoration, he should have received the GWOTEM for combat service in the Arabian Sea in 2002. This error is overseen in the show.

Famous quotes containing the words turner and/or decorations:
“O shining Popocatapetl, It was thy magic hour:
The houses, people, traffic seemed
Thin fading dreams by day;
Chimborazo, Cotopaxi
They had stolen my soul away!”
—Walter James Turner (18891946)
“Let the realist not mind appearances. Let him delegate to others the costly courtesies and decorations of social life. The virtues are economists, but some of the vices are also. Thus, next to humility, I have noticed that pride is a pretty good husband. A good pride is, as I reckon it, worth from five hundred to fifteen hundred a year.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
